The Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota, founded in 1987, is one of India’s leading open universities dedicated to providing flexible, affordable, and accessible education. Initially known as Kota Open University, it was renamed in 2002 to honor Jain philosopher Vardhman Mahaveer.

The Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota, was established in 1987 (originally as Kota Open University, renamed in 2002) and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is a premier open and distance learning university in Rajasthan, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Computer Applications, and Management. Admissions are conducted through merit-based selection, CUET UG/PG, and university-level entrance exams for specific programs like MBA and Ph.D. Eligibility requires 10+2 for UG programs, graduation in relevant fields for PG programs, and a master’s degree for doctoral studies. Fees are highly affordable, with UG programs ranging between ₹6,000–₹12,000 per year and PG programs between ₹8,000–₹15,000 per year, making higher education accessible to working professionals, rural students, and lifelong learners.
