About
Tripura University, located at NH8, University Road, Suryamani Nagar, Agartala, was established in 1987 by an Act of Parliament as a Central University. It is recognized by the UGC and accredited with NAAC ‘A’ grade, making it one of the leading institutions in Northeast India. The university was created to expand access to higher education in Tripura and has since grown into a multidisciplinary hub of learning and research.
Tripura University offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across arts, science, commerce, management, law, engineering, and education. Tripura University, Agartala, was established in 1987 and became a Central University in 2007 under the Tripura University Act. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by various statutory bodies such as the AICTE, NCTE, and PCI, depending on the programs offered. The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in disciplines including Science, Arts, Commerce, Management, Law, Education, Engineering, and Pharmacy. Admissions are conducted through CUET UG/PG, national-level entrance exams like JEE Main, NEET, CAT, and merit-based selection. Eligibility requires 10+2 for UG programs, graduation in relevant fields for PG programs, and a master’s degree for doctoral studies. Fees are affordable compared to private institutions, with UG programs ranging between ₹15,000–₹40,000 per year and PG programs between ₹20,000–₹50,000 per year, making higher education accessible to students across the Northeast.
