Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, established in 1962, is a state government university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Formerly known as the University of Jodhpur, it is the only residential university in Rajasthan and serves as the academic hub for western Rajasthan. Accredited with NAAC ‘B++’ grade, JNVU is known for its strong research focus on desert ecology, heritage studies, and regional development.

JNVU was founded in 1962 as a public state university and is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for law programs. The university offers 140+ programs including B.E., B.Sc., B.A., M.Sc., M.A., MBA, LLB, and PhD. Admissions are largely merit-based for UG courses, while professional programs like B.E., MBA, and law require entrance exams such as WBJEE, CAT/MAT, CLAT, and NATA (for B.Arch). Eligibility requires 10+2 with relevant subjects for UG programs and graduation with 50–55% marks for PG programs. Fees are highly affordable, with the B.E. program costing around ₹1.96 lakh total and M.Sc. programs around ₹19,200, making JNVU one of the most cost-effective universities in Rajasthan.
